The Presidency of World Public Forum – Dialogue of Civilizations (WPFDC) and the Dialogue of Civilizations Research Institute (DOC) pay tribute to former Israeli President and Peace Nobel Laureate Shimon Peres who passed away last night.
Shimon Peres who was active in Israeli and international politics more than 70 years stood for reconciliation with the Palestinians and the peace process including the creation of a Palestinian state. Dr. Vladimir Yakunin, co-founder of DOC, extended his sincere condolences to the family of Shimon Peres and the whole Israeli people, Walter Schwimmer, co-founder of DOC, who met with Shimon Peres several times as Secretary General of the Council of Europe and as Austrian politician said that people devoted to dialogue in the whole world are mourning together with the Israeli people. He expressed his conviction that Shimon Peres’ legacy of peace will sustain as the only way to end violence and hostilities in the land which is considered by the three world religions as holy.
