Mr. Pandey said of the conference: “The topics discussed are highly significant and relevant, due to the election of Donald Trump and the change of leadership in the US. Therefore the conference is important for forging strong partnerships, not only on a transatlantic scale, but all over Europe. We as an international think tank would like to thank AmCham for inviting us and offering us the opportunity to exchange ideas with key stakeholders”.
The American Chamber of Commerce invited 400 decision-makers from the political sphere and from German and American companies as well as high-ranking representatives from various sectors of European and American society to participate in the conference. Major topics under discussion included European-American cooperation as well as business responsibilities, focusing on the competitiveness of Europe and the US, the opportunities and risks presented by digitalisation processes, and European integration.
John B. Emerson, the US ambassador to Germany, and Ulrich Grillo, president of the Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie (BDI), gave opening speeches on the significance of a strong transatlantic relationship, while José Manuel Barroso, former president of the European Commission, attended the conference as a honorary guest.
The DOC and AmCham also discussed potential future cooperation and are looking forward to the development of these discussions.
