Dmitri Trenin of the Carnegie Moscow Center reflects on relationships between the countries of Europe and Eurasia, external perceptions of Europe, the rise of Trump, and Russia’s relationships with China and the US. Although European and Eurasian countries are partners in fields of Economics, Science, and Technology, when it comes to Foreign Affairs, Security, and Geopolitics, Europe contains no strategic partner for the countries of Eurasia. Meanwhile, Sino-Russian relations are characterised by security and flexibility, whilst the fact that anti-Russian sentiment has now become a domestic political issue in the US means that growth in US-Russian relations will be restricted, although stabilisation is more likely now than under the Obama administration.
