The Dialogue of Civilizations Research Institute (DOC) and its predecessor organisation, the World Public Forum – Dialogue of Civilizations, have fostered dialogue since 2002 in the most critical areas of contemporary politics and other global issues, and has always manifested independence, impartiality, and integrity in the performance of its mission. To ensure this continuity, the DOC has developed a Code of Conduct for its personnel and its visiting speakers, in order to have everybody on the same page in terms of the respect that enables dialogue to be exercised on a daily basis.
The DOC is platform for free speech, and dialogue needs to happen on an honest and equal foundation in order to be promoted in societies across the world.
For personnel, this means that DOC staff shall maintain their independence and shall not seek or receive instructions from any government or from any other person or entity external to the DOC, and shall refrain from any action which might bring the DOC’s independence, impartiality, or integrity into question.
The DOC invites speakers and hires employees from various backgrounds, and from countries with different political systems and cultural backgrounds. In order to foster dialogue among everybody, the principles of human rights, dignity, and the worth of all people must be adhered to for the sake of understanding, tolerance, and sensitivity, with respect to a diversity that avoids discrimination of any kind.
This continues the DOC and its predecessor organisation´s rich traditions of academic discourse, respect for human dignity, and free and open speech, which have always promoted equal and respectful dialogue between representatives of different civilisations
