From 2 to 4 November, a delegation from the DOC Research Institute gave a series of lectures in Beijing and met with Chinese experts in business and research.
Chairman of the Supervisory Board Vladimir Yakunin was invited by Hao Ping, chairman of Peking University, and delivered a keynote speech during the annual Beijing Forum, entitled ‘The Harmony of Civilizations and Prosperity for All: Values and Order in a Changing World’.
As a result of the ongoing cooperation between the Dialogue of Civilizations Research Institute and Peking University, which began during the 2015 Beijing Forum, both parties agreed to work closely with each other and signed a Memorandum of Understanding during the visit, signed by Yakunin and Ping. The aim of this partnership is the exchange of academic resources, research project ideas, and collaborating.
A second lecture was delivered by the chairman to the Supervisory Board Vladimir Yakunin to the management team of the China Investment Corporation about the concept of ‘global civilisational collaboration’, drawing from his background as a businessman and as a political scientist.
The delegation was invited by Mr. Tu Guangshao, president of the China Investment Corporation. Both sides agreed to continue cooperating on joint research activities in the field of infrastructure development, following the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
At Beijing Normal University, Yakunin was awarded with a distinguished professor degree from the Emerging Markets Institute, by Biliang Hu, dean of the institute and director of the Belt and Road Think Tank, shortly before delivering a lecture to students and researchers on the role of the infrastructure development in the Euro-Asia region.
During the two-day trip, the delegation from the Dialogue of Civilization Research Institute held a meeting with Mr. Hang Yuanxiang, executive vice chairman of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation and agreed on to continue cooperation on scientific and public events, including joint work on the agenda for the next Rhodes Forum, on 5-6 October 2018.
