On 4 June 2018, the Dialogue of Civilizations Research Institute, together with the Investment Migration Council, the Faculty of Law of the University of Groningen, and the International Center for Globalization and Development, co-organised a seminar titled ‘Academic Investment Migration Seminar on the International Mobility of the Wealthy and Global Inequality’ during the Investment Migration Forum in Geneva.
The seminar built on the success of the Investment Migration seminars of 2016 and 2017, where the convenors sought contributions to an international conference on the key economic, political, and legal developments on the seminar topic. This year, the seminar was co-convened by Prof. Dimitry Kochenov of the University of Groningen, the chairman of the IMC, together with Prof. Andrés Solimano, director of the DOC project on wealth migration and global inequality and the head of the International Center for Globalization and Development of Santiago de Chile. The core focus of the event was the interface between global inequalities and investment migration.
The Investment Migration Forum in Geneva is the largest forum of its kind in the world and addresses renowned academics, government officials, representatives of international organisations, as well as the world´s leading professionals dealing with investor migration and citizenship.
The event was attended by over 300 participants from 40 countries.
