Vladimir Yakunin publishes new De Futuro Article

Berlin 25 June, ’Effectiveness’ as a religion: Will statistics supersede the humane? This new De Futuro article can be read for free on the Dialogue of Civilizations Research Institute website.

The article deals with how statistics influence our decisions, politics, and behavior.

“We have a duty to question, not just accept ready-made solutions”, argues the chairman of the DOC supervisory board Vladimir Yakunin, looking behind statistics and also saying, “numbers are central to how we approach an analysis of the world around us. However, as with any code, understanding what the numbers really mean takes considerable effort.”

“I maintain that in looking for ways to modify our complex and crucial relationship with modern technologies and AI, we should take inspiration from those values that have been with us from day one and which are commonly shared by all cultures on the planet. At their heart lies respect – for ourselves, for each other, for our rich natural resources, and for our place in the timeline of human existence.”, writes Yakunin in his current De Futuro article.

De Futuro is a series of articles published by the DOC’s supervisory board chairman, Vladimir Yakunin.

The short essays focus on the future of various aspects of global politics, economics, and social life.
