Berlin, 3 September 2019
The Dialogue of Civilizations Research Institute (DOC) is pleased to announce a partnership with Aegean Airlines as the Official Air Carrier Sponsor of this year’s Rhodes Forum. Following its Corporate Social Responsibility policy that embraces global challenges and facilitates the creation of expert communities, AEGEAN will support the travel needs of this year’s DOC Rhodes Forum participants.
Carl Drexler, Development Director at the DOC, said:
“Our partnership with Aegean Airlines reflects the growing global stature of the Rhodes Forum and the Forum’s substantial contribution over many years to the intellectual and cultural life of the island. Greece is a beacon of European and global civilization, so the choice of this beautiful Greek island as the Forum’s spiritual home is certainly not by chance. The Rhodes Forum continues a centuries-long intellectual tradition, and its focus this year on sustainable development reflects very modern concerns, as well as recognition among corporate leaders like Aegean Airlines of the innovative thinking – which the Rhodes Forum is designed to stimulate and showcase – that we need to tackle the major challenges facing us today.”
Marina Spyridaki, Manager, Corporate Affairs at AEGEAN, said:
“AEGEAN, a member of the Star Alliance, proudly supports this year’s Rhodes Forum and in doing so, recognises DOC’s contribution to addressing key global challenges with a wide range of initiatives for social impact. We look forward to welcoming participants with our 11 time Skytrax award-winning on-board service and traditional Greek hospitality.”
The 2019 Rhodes Forum aims to facilitate a better understanding of the deep changes our societies are undergoing 30 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall. It will shed light on initiatives that contribute substantially towards sustainable economic development; propose new concepts for the architecture of international governance in the context of shifts in power within the global economy; and it will examine the restoration of civility and promotion of ethical standards in the digital age.
Confirmed speakers already announced include best-selling author Bruno Maçães, former Europe Minister of Portugal; Ehud Olmert, former Prime Minister of Israel; and former Austrian Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer.
The 17th edition of the Rhodes Forum – titled “Global (dis)order: Towards dialogue-based worldviews” – takes place on the Greek island of Rhodes on 11-12 October 2019. For more information, please visit www.rhodesforum.org and follow the DOC on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.
