Diego Avanzini is a Senior Researcher at CIGLOG (International Center for Globalization and Development) in Santiago, Chile. He holds a PhD in Economics from the Catholic University of Chile. Prior to joining CIGLOG, Avanzini held the positions of Head of the Microdata Unit in the Statistics Division of the Central Bank of Chile, as well as Senior Economist in the Financial Policy Division. Before this, he was a Visiting Professor and Visiting Scholar at George Mason University’s School of Law in Arlington, Virginia. He is also a consultant for governments and international organisations on fiscal and economic development issues. Avanzini has mostly oriented his research to quantitative and applied economics and their links to public policy, with applications to income distribution and economic development, talent mobility, entrepreneurship, industrial organisation, financial literacy, and fiscal behaviour in developing countries (Latin America and Africa).
