Haitham Abdelsamad is an intern at the Dialogue of Civilizations Research Institute in Vienna, Austria. He graduated, with distinction, from the University of Vienna where he studied Political Sciences. Now, he is completing his Masters degree at Sciences Po Paris in International Security. His research interests are in the field of counter terrorism, radicalisation, and the relationship between religion and politics. During his studies, he conducted research for the Austrian National Defense Academy, John Cabot University Press, and the UK-based Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Sciences. He has also written for the Austrian news magazine, Profil, and the University of Vienna’s Department Journal, PolitiX. Haitham was born in Vienna to Egyptian parents and is a native speaker of German and Arabic; he is also fluent in English.
