Dr. Hans Koechler is professor of the University of Innsbruck (Austria) and holds the Chair of Political Philosophy and Philosophical Anthropology.
He is the founder and President of the International Progress Organization (I.P.O.), an NGO in consultative status with the United Nations, and a member of the International Coordinating Committee of the World Public Forum «Dialogue of Civilizations».
Dr. Koechler is the author or editor of numerous articles and books, including «Democracy and the International Rule of Law», «Global Justice or Global Revenge?» «International Criminal Justice at the Crossroads» and «World Order: Vision and Reality». He serves as editor of the series "Studies in International Relations" and member of the Editorial Board of several journals, including «Wisdom and Philosophy» (Tehran) and the Indian «Journal of Politics».
In 2000, he was nominated by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan as international observer at the Scottish Court in the Netherlands (“Lockerbie Trial”).
Dr. Koechler has received numerous honours and awards, including doctor degrees honoris causa from Mindanao State University (Philippines) and Armenian State Pedagogical University, and an honorary professorship from Pamukkale University (Turkey).
