Jayati Ghosh holds an MPhil from Jawaharlal Nehru University (India) as well as an MA and PhD from Cambridge University (UK).
Her research focuses on development, globalisation, international trade and finance, employment patterns in developing countries, macroeconomic policy and issues related to gender and development. She has received the following awards: the 2005 UN Development Programme Award for excellence in analysis, the 2010 NordSud Prize for Social Sciences from the Fondazione Pescarabruzzo, Italy, and the 2011 International Labour Organisation Decent Work Research Prize.
Prof. Ghosh was a Member of the National Knowledge Commission reporting to the Prime Minister of India and the Committee for Evaluation of Research of the International Labour Organisation in Geneva, Switzerland. She currently serves as Executive Secretary of the International Development Economics Associates as well as being a Founding Trustee of the Economic Research Foundation in New Delhi.
