Professor Li Xin is director of the Institute for Economic Comparative Studies and Center for Russia and the Central Asia Studies of Shanghai Institute for International Studies (SIIS).
He taught at the Department of Management, Zhengzhou University of Light Industry (1987-1989) after graduating from the Department of Economics at Wuhan University. He continued his studies in world economics at Renmin University, and was a doctoral student majoring in economics at Belarusian State University (1989-1994). He received his postdoctoral fellowship at Fudan University’s School of Economics (1994-1997).
Li Xin is member of the Shanghai Committee of People's Political Consultative Conference and standing director of National Council of China Society of Russian, East European and Central Asian Studies and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Research Centre.
He serves as vice-president of the Shanghai Association of Russian, East European & Central Asian Studies and part-time professor and director of doctoral students at Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and East China Normal University.
His major academic interest is in world economy, economics of transition, economies in transition and especially the Russian economy.
