DOC expresses its deep concern over the latest disruption of dialogue between all legitimate international parties involved in the Syrian conflict.
While DOC recognizes the complexity of the conflict and that the different parties are not in agreement over the roots of the current conflict and how it can be resolved, this is not a reason for any side to walk away from the table.
On the contrary, doing so is irresponsible. It is in complex times such as this that there is all the more reason for the world’s major powers to talk and to attempt to find agreement on the way ahead.
The decision made by politicians to suspend the dialogue has put at risk the future peace and stability of Syria and the wider region, and serves to detract world powers from the larger fight against ISIS and other sources of terrorism around the world.
DOC calls on all parties to renew dialogue – for the good of the Syrian people and for stability in the region as a whole.
