Join DOC in Berlin to hear renowned elite researcher Michael Hartmann discuss his recent book: „Die Abgehobenen – Wie die Eliten die Demokratie gefährden“.
The elites are eroding democracy, an becoming a more and more closed society. This applies not only to the economic but increasingly also to the political elite. The living conditions of the elites are increasingly detached from those of the normal population and their social origins are predominantly upmarket. Michael Hartmann names the consequences: political disenchantment and right-wing populism.
As the worlds of the powerful and the population continue to drift apart Hartmann argues that there must be a radical change of policy towards social justice, and the elites, and above all the political elite, must become much more socially open again.
A presentation of the book by Michael Hartmann will be followed by Q&A and networking.
