Alexey Malashenko


Chief Researcher, DOC Research Institute

Prof. Malashenko graduated from the Institute of Asian and African Countries, Moscow State University. He has a PhD in History, and is one of the leading experts in Islam and in orientalist political scientist.

Prof. Malashenko is the author and editor of about 20 books (in Russian, English, French, and Arabic) and more than 200 articles.

Before joining the Dialogue of Civilizations Research Institute Prof. Malashenko was Chair of the ‘Religion, Society, and Security’ program at the Carnegie Moscow Center, and before that, his positions included: Professor at the Higher School of Economics (HSE), National Research University; Professor at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations; and Head of the Islamic Department at the Institute of Oriental Studies RAN (Russian Academy of Sciences).
