Dimitrios Psarrakis is Advisor of Economic and Monetary Policy at the European Parliament. He works mainly on files related to the Capital Markets Union, FinTech, and Financial Innovation. Recently he was the leading draftsperson of the Blockchain Resolution and of the Industry Committee’s Opinion on the extension of the European Fund of Strategic Investments. He is now appointed to work on the files of the Crowdfunding Regulation and Digital Platforms Regulation. In this capacity he is often speaker on the topics of Digital transformation in finance in the leading fora of the USA, Europe and Asia as well lecturer in leading universities like Stanford, MIT and Harvard. Prior to his work in the European Parliament he worked as credit risk specialist in the banking sector and he was also economic policy advisor at the Parliament of Greece during the years of the Greek debt crisis. His research interests are related to financial industry transformation, banking innovation, digitalization of financial services and crypto-token crowdfunding. He got his postgraduate degree in Finance from Harvard University and he is affiliated to the Advanced Executive Program in Management, Innovation and Technology of MIT, Sloan Business School.
