Paul Martin Macdonald
Paul Martin Macdonald qualified as a chartered accountant in 1979. He worked for Pilkington plc for sixteen years, the last seven of these in Germany. In Germany he was managing director for Pilkington Deutschland GmbH (holding company) and managing director of both Flachglas AG (glass manufacturer) and Dahlbusch AG (property and holding company).
For the last 20 years Mr Macdonald has been active in the private equity market and has been successful in developing a number of companies covering a number of industries, including Sirona Beteiligungs GmbH (Germany), a leveraged buy-out from Siemens. He is currently the CEO for Optas GmbH where he has managed a property portfolio in Berlin since 2006. Macdonald is chairman of PME African Infrastructure Opportunities plc and Gulf Investment Fund plc. Both companies are quoted on the London Stock Exchange. He has been working with a local community in Kenya for the last 13 years and is chairman of The GENO Project, a charity set up to support the work.
