Global pandemic webinar series: Geopolitics after the pandemic: Time for a reset?

Join Dialogue of Civilisations online at 1pm CEST on Tuesday 21 April for DOC’s new webinar series ‘Global pandemic: The way forward. Scenarios for transformational change’.
The second webinar in the series will focus on geopolitics, crisis management, and world-order reform in light of the Covid-19 crisis. This online webinar, presented in partnership with Global Trade Forum Berlin and GoNews India, will feature three expert speakers considering the following topics:
- Prospects for cross-border cooperation or closed-border nationalism
- International relations ‘reset’ – hopes for crisis-induced renewal
- Assessments of global alliances
Our three expert speakers for this topic will be:
Dr Wang Huiyao, the Director and Co-Founder of the Center for China and Globalization.
Shada Islam, the Director of Europe and Geopolitics at Friends of Europe.
Suresh Prabhu, India’s Sherpa to the G20 and former Union Minister.
More about the webinar series:
The current global pandemic has dramatic implications for our lives, for global economics, and for geopolitics. Many of us are confined to our own homes for the next few weeks. Each day brings more uncertainty, especially surrounding the potential long-term effects the virus may have on multiple aspects. It will certainly have profound transformational effects on economics, geopolitics, and society.
Global dialogue is more necessary than ever at this time: global challenges indeed require international cooperation, not just national responses.
Throughout the month of April, the DOC will hold three webinars with speakers from around the world exploring the consequences of the coronavirus crisis and its potential transformational effects longer-term. Each webinar will focus on one of the three spheres that the DOC specialises in.
Features of the webinar series
Each webinar will feature three speakers from various regions of the world discussing the potential impact that the crisis may have on their particular sphere and longer-term scenario. Look out for our promotional videos before each webinar that will give a brief introduction to the topics – after watching the video please submit any preliminary questions to event@doc-research.org to see them answered live during the webinar. We will also be dedicating time during the webinar to answer your questions in real time.
As is common for the DOC, we expect participants to join us from all over the world. Advance registration is necessary.
