Augusto Soto leads the Dialogue with China Project, an independent electronic platform aimed at analyzing and discussing current events, intercultural and international issues as well as innovation projects for a better understanding and interaction with China. www.dialoguewithchina.eu
A noted professor, he has authored countless articles and analyses on China, the Asia Pacific and Eurasia regions in specialized magazines and books published in three continents. For many years he has been lecturing at various universities, think tanks and business schools including ESADE, the Open University of Cataluña, the Program of High University Studies (IAEU), the Autonomous University of Barcelona and CIDOB.
Currently he is as lecturer at ESADE (Barcelona), and actively collaborates with various programs and initiatives at the Elcano Royal Institute (Madrid), the Institute of European Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (Beijing), the Observatory of Chinese Politics (Pontevedra). Soto has offered keynote speeches, courses and seminars at international institutions, including CEIBS (Shanghai), UNESCO headquarters (Paris), the Diplomatic Academy of Kazakhstan (Almaty and Astana), IESE (Barcelona), the Elcano Royal Institute (Madrid), The Foreign Affairs Office Compilation & Translation Bureau under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (Beijing), IAE (Buenos Aires), Kobe University (Kobe), among others. He was invited and participated in the US-China-EU Trialogue21, East West Institute (Washington).
He regularly comments for a wide range of media organizations including Spanish National Radio, China Radio International, China Daily, El Mercurio, Russian TV, Radio France International, BBC. He is a regular contributor of The Global Square Magazinehttps://www.globalsquaremagazine.com/contributors and adviser of China Hoy/China Today magazine in Spain.
Mr. Soto studied Chinese at the Beijing Language Institute and Chinese Contemporary History at Beijing University during the latter half of the 1980s. During those years he worked as a Chinese-Spanish translator and reporter for the Spanish News Agency EFE in the Chinese capital. Mr. Soto has carried out research on China at Beijing University, University of California, University of Hong Kong, Chengchi University, University of Heidelberg.
