    Karin Fischer is Head of the Department for Politics and Development Research at the Institute of Sociology, Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria. She teaches development studies and global sociology. Her research interests are uneven development, neoliberal transformation and class formation in transnational perspective. Areas of interest include global inequality and globalization processes, with a regional focus on Latin America. She published numerous books on north-south relations and a monograph on the history of class formation in Chile (“Eine Klasse für sich”, 2011, published in Spanish in 2017).
